YARD-Google Arts & Culture x EYCH

Google Arts & Culture x EYCH

Client: Google Greece
Year: 2018

To commemorate their collaboration with the European Commission for the European Year of Cultural Heritage, Google Arts & Culture hosted a vibrant celebration at the Lighthouse of the SNFCC.

Our task was to transform the Lighthouse into a dynamic party venue, reflecting the values of Google Arts & Culture while honoring the architectural integrity of the space.

Natural materials, including wood, metal, and glass, were strategically employed to create expansive surfaces, allowing the campaign’s vibrant character to unfold. A low stage was erected to accommodate speeches and presentations by prominent figures, including top Googlers, government and commission officials, and influential YouTubers from various European countries, each representing different facets of Cultural Heritage. A large HD LED screen showcased Google-produced videos illustrating how culture serves as a connecting thread among people with diverse backgrounds and origins.

Guests on the other side of the room engaged with Google’s cultural platform using various mediums such as computers, phones, and tablets. Google’s VR painting platform, Tilt Brush, provided a unique experience, allowing guests to paint in a 3D environment, drawing inspiration from their cultural perspectives. A Greek artist created an on-the-spot masterpiece, incorporating themes from the evening with the participation of eager guests, forming a cultural collage.

Throughout the Lighthouse, a diverse range of furniture, including vintage sofas, armchairs, modern high tables, and stools, created a lounge area where guests could enjoy presentations and later revel to the DJ’s music. The venue was adorned with colorful props and branding on the windows, transforming the Lighthouse into a youthful representation of European Culture. It served as a welcoming space for guests from across Europe to engage in inspiring conversations and revel in the most enjoyable ways, whether by picking up a guitar or sketching on a piece of paper.

Carefully curated food displayed a twist on Greek cuisine, while the selected cocktails echoed the vibes of European cities, offering highly Instagrammable moments from a night that celebrated the European Year of Cultural Heritage in a truly representative and festive manner.
